Four students competed at the Individual Speech Contest on Saturday, March 14, in Council Bluffs. All four students received Division 1 ratings for their performances! 👏

The performing students were Samantha Akers (Review and Original Oratory), Lukas Hetland (Musical Theater), Wyni Kuehler (Storytelling), and Mason Bradley (Review and Acting).

Of our four students, two were named All-State for their outstanding performances. This is a huge honor, and they will be celebrated at the University of Northern Iowa on Monday, March 30.

Congratulations to the Van Meter High School Jazz Band and Jazz Choir on their incredible achievements! Both groups have been accepted into their respective State Jazz Championships, making Van Meter the only 2A school to qualify in both competitions and one of just four schools across Iowa to accomplish this honor. 🎶

They will represent Van Meter on two championship stages:

➡️ The Van Meter Jazz Band will perform at the Iowa State Jazz Championships on Tuesday, April 7 at Iowa State University’s Scheman Building at 10:00am.
