Kindergarteners in Mrs. McIlravy's class are learning about forces and motion. Using ramps, they planned and conducted an investigation to answer the question, "How can I make the cup go farther when rolling a ball into it?"
Their class came up with many great predictions, such as using a taller ramp, trying a heavier ball, and giving the ball a push. They then tested each of these ideas to see how they affected the distance the cup traveled. After observing these different pushes, they repeated the experiment with a string attached between the ball and the cup to compare the differences between pushing and pulling.
