Good morning,
Governor Reynolds will announce her plans for school districts during her press conference today at 2:30 p.m. We know that the shutdown will be extended, but we can only speculate to how long it will be. Our teachers, counselors, and principals have been doing an awesome job of providing resources and support to allow students to continue their learning as best they can. Most students have taken advantage of the opportunities to continue to meet the standards of their grade levels and courses. We encourage all students to do all that they can to meet learning standards during the shutdown. If parents need more help in supporting their kids, please be sure to reach out to Adam and Cody. We will do whatever we can to help students continue to learn.
We will provide more information later today or tomorrow on what our next steps will be as a district in regard to continuous learning. Once we have more guidance from the Governor, the Iowa Department of Education, and the various state activity associations, we will be able to share what the next steps will be for student activities and events as well.
Also, as more and more schools provide online supports for kids, more and more criminals will try to hack into computers. Please remind students to be following all of the safety measures possible to limit the chances of something inappropriate taking place. I have attached some information of other scams that are happening as well. Though there are hundreds of other scams out there, be sure to review these when you get a chance.
Again, we expect to get more information out to you in regard to our plans moving forward later today, or on Friday. Please continue to follow the guidance of the CDC and the IDPH. Do your part to help keep people safe.
Talk to you soon.
GO DAWGS!
