I am honored to serve on the Van Meter School Board. I thank you for this opportunity and your trust and confidence in me. My goals as a board member are two-fold; to keep our school strong both academically and fiscally and to make the school expansion project a success. There will be many new and unforeseen challenges as we grow over the next 4 years and my background and experience in construction and business management will hopefully lend to a positive transition.

I grew up on a farm in the eastern Iowa community of DeWitt. I graduated from the University of Iowa through the ROTC program. I entered the USAF as an officer in the military intelligence field. While in the military, I married my high school sweetheart, Melanie. After 6 years, we had an opportunity to leave active duty and return to the Midwest. After a company transfer to the Des Moines area we settled in our home in the Van Meter district. We chose Van Meter because of the small community and school with a strong academic foundation and what we believe was
tremendous opportunity for our boys.
Our three boys, Cameron 16, Marshall 14, and Harrison 12 all attend Van Meter and are involved in both performing arts and athletics. My wife Melanie, after substitute teaching for several years, is now a 2nd teacher at Van Meter. I have been employed at TimberPine Landscaping and Nursery for 8 yrs where I am the Marketing and Sales Manager. I enjoy helping out at the at Van Meter football games and track meets and spend many nights and weekends coaching and refereeing basketball.
Again, I am proud to serve you and I look forward to the exciting work ahead.
